• Description:

  Geologic Photos of Alaska database and online application contains photographs taken during and in support of Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) projects. These photographs primarily document field sites and geomorphology statewide. Many photos record data from remote locations that are often impossible or prohibitively expensive to revisit. The database includes a variety of images, such as field photos, photos of samples, and photomicrographs (photographs of a microscopic object) taken with the aid of a microscope. Data sources are primarily DGGS staff or collaborators, but the database also includes images from other contributors. DGGS publically launched the application in 2017, and database maintenance and image loading are ongoing.
