The Director's Office provides strategic planning for the Division's programs to ensure that DGGS is meeting the needs of the public, manages the Division's fiscal affairs, and provides personnel and clerical services. The Director acts as a liaison between the Division and local, state, federal, and private agencies; seeks out and encourages cooperative geologic programs of value to the state; and advises the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources about geologic issues.
Melanie provides strategic planning for the Division's programs to ensure DGGS meets the needs of the public as defined by Alaska statute. She manages the Division's fiscal affairs, acting as a liaison between the division and local, state, federal, and private agencies; seeking out and encouraging cooperative geologic programs of value to the state; and advising the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources about geologic issues.
Felisa is responsible for personnel, procurement, invoicing, inventory, cell phone requests, and other administrative duties as needed.
Jess excels in helping customers—in person, on the phone, by mail, or by email. She also assists our staff with travel, timesheet processing, state credit card accounting, our public information desk, mail and postage, maintaining supplies, and other administrative duties as needed.
Kelsey expertly provides grant administrative support for DGGS. She has gained experience by serving multiple departments in various administrative and accounting related roles spanning from student intern to Accountant 4 and is now expanding into grants administration to build upon an already solid background in grant accounting.
Sonja is responsible for budget development, accounting, and financial management for the division. She coordinates and supervises all aspects of the administrative functions for the division, including personnel, procurement, travel, inventory, policy and procedure development.
